All across the flat, parched oil region known as Khuzestan, Iran is rebuilding at a furious pace, sweeping aside the rubble of eight years of war and the economic paralysis of the revolution. The war with Iraq left a panorama of devastation still visible three years after a desperate Iran accepted a cease-fire.
