In Costa Rican rain forest, students learn global perspective on local problems

La Virgen de Sarapiqui, Costa Rica -- Whitewater rafting, swan- diving into jungle swimming holes and petting wild toucans are not activities generally associated with an educational curriculum.
But for students and teachers participating in the Tirimbina Rainforest Center's educational program, screaming down Costa Rica's Sarapiqui River in a large raft is all part of the program.
