It is a healthy circumstance for literary criticism and for the appreciation of literature generally when an obscure work by a major writer is made available in a modern edition. George Eliot's last published work, Impressions of Theophrastus Such, is a minor achievement, but making the work available is helpful, especially to scholars who would like an accessible annotated copy.
