John Lee Hooker (1917?-2001) was the king of boogie blues, but until this 84-track Hooker, the closest he'd come to a career-spanning retrospective was Rhino's two-CD The Ultimate Collection 1948-1990. Like Son House and Skip James, he was a Mississippi Delta native.
