The home cinema screams luxury: the luxury of space to spare, with an entire room devoted to pure escapism and entertainment. But in reality most home cinemas have to serve other functions to earn their keep.

Two aspects are vital to making a home cinema work: the room must have a hushed, inviting atmosphere; and the actual viewing experience needs to be high-impact visually and acoustically.
