Forty Kenyans are to undergo a new Aids vaccine trial to help verify its efficacy. The vaccine has been developed by a group of British, Canadian and Kenyan scientists in Nairobi, led by Professor Andrew McMichael from Oxford University in England.
Dr Joshua Kimani, one of the Kenyan scientists on the UN-sponsored project, says the vaccine is DNA-based and consists of DNA strands from the HIV virus attached to another virus called MVA, which was used in the development of the small pox vaccine.
