Henry Clay Simpson, 85, who retired from the Treasury Department in the early 1990s after more than 30 years as a cabinetmaker and machinist, died Dec. 19 at Inova Fairfax Hospital of complications following intestinal surgery. He lived in Fairfax. Mr. Simpson, a Washington area resident since 1961, was born in Gretna, Va., and raised in an orphanage in Danville, Va., after the deaths of his parents.
