Half-day kindergarten is cut
But West Bend to seek alternatives

West Bend -- Heeding emotional pleas from parents, the West Bend School Board voted 5-1 Monday to eliminate a stand-alone half-day kindergarten program next year but stopped short of doing away with half-day program options altogether.
Board members cited steadily declining enrollment numbers and a lack of space as reasons for doing away with a stand-alone half-day program for 5-year-olds.
