Christopher Hogwood, artistic director of the Handel & Haydn Society, has announced details of the organization's 1998-99 season, which opens with a Beethoven program in Symphony Hall Oct. 16 and 18 and concludes with a three-day Handel festival in Jordan Hall April 30-May 2. Hogwood will conduct the Beethoven program, the Handel festival, a Mendelssohn program Nov. 6 and 8, and the traditional annual performances of Handel's "Messiah" (Dec. 4-12). The Beethoven program features the Mass in C, the "Egmont" overture and the concert aria "Ah! perfido," and the soloists are soprano Christine Brew...
