The glamour of the 1940s and the era of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers was the theme of the Handel & Haydn Society's 13th annual gala benefit Saturday at the Four Seasons Hotel. Called "Trip the Light Fantastic," the gala invited guests to dress in "black or white formal attire," and there were white ties, tuxes, white gowns, black gowns, and a combination thereof. One of the prettiest was the long black gown worn by Sharon Merrill of Winchester with white satin rosebuds around the neckline.
