State officials are warning taxpayers about cashing in on services that offer immediate income tax refunds.
Refund-anticipation loans came under fire earlier this week, when Judge Raymond A. Jackson of United States District Court in Norfolk, Va., ordered tax preparation company H & R Block to stop advertising the loans as "rapid refunds."
Offers of quick tax refunds, or refund-anticipation loans, will likely come at a high price, an interest rate of about 46.4 percent, according to the Massachusetts Department of Revenue.
