Handel's "Julius Caesar" has everything: a passionate love story, political intrigue, assassination, revenge, comedy, seduction, a noble ruler versus a corrupt one, sibling rivalry, romantic competition.
Handel's musical setting is equal to all of it and is, by turns, voluptuous, bellicose, furious, grief-stricken and brilliantly virtuosic enough to make several singers' careers (as it did for Beverly Sills).
