PORTSMOUTH -- PORTSMOUTH - Guy Snellings Hinton Sr., 91, died Feb. 6, 2006, at the Chesapeake Home on George Washington Highway. He was born in Gatesville, N.C., July 28, 1914, the youngest child of Charles Richard and Alberta Snellings Hinton.
Mr. Hinton came to Portsmouth at age 16 after graduating from Gatesville High School. For a time he worked as clerk at the old Gleason Drug Store in Port Norfolk; and later for his Uncle Will Snellings at his uncle's pharmacy on old Church Street.
