To address ongoing concerns with underwater and sea-based operations, the Navy is supporting research on glider concepts for both deep-ocean and aerial missions.
* Long-endurance undersea gliders could be used to gather critical data and perform "sentry" operations in littoral areas.
* Sea-launched aerial gliders with a 50-mile range are being studied as logistics support vehicles to deliver equipment and supplies.
