When Jeffery Deaver was preparing for his last book tour, he explained that he wanted to grab his readers by the guts, that they "need to have sweaty palms, be coming to the end of the chapter and turning the page," for him to have succeeded.
Today, little has changed, save the additional best-seller notch in his keyboard and the admission that he is in serious negotiations to turn his famous Lincoln Rhyme series into a TV show. Books, he insists, will always be his bread and butter.
