Gerard F. Rogers, 61, a retired Navy captain who later served as the first town administrator for Middleburg, died of cancer Aug. 19 at his home in Philomont. Capt. Rogers was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and graduated from Wilkes College. His 27-year Navy career included service as executive officer aboard a guided missile destroyer and command of a guided missile frigate. He had an assignment with the studies and observation group of the military assistance command in Saigon during the Vietnam War.
