In the cold of winter, when many Minnesotans would be trying to figure out the quickest way south, Nancy Burkitt Foy would be thinking about gardens.
Foy, who helped choose sites for the Healing Gardens Tour, which benefits the Center for Victims of Torture, died Sept. 5 of lung cancer at her home in St. Paul. She was 68.
"It amazed me, the way she would get going every year," said Bonnie Blodgett, a garden writer from St. Paul. "She would call every few months - `What have you heard? Have you seen this garden?'
