There is no better antidote to noisy children than some good games. Travelling by U-Bahn to the Gruga Halls for the Essen Games Fair recently, I was surrounded by youngsters whose favourite game seemed to be musical seats - the object being to find one furthest from the person they were talking to, then continuing the conversation at the tops of their voices.
I was horrified when they all got out with me and made a beeline for the exhibition halls. Yet when I came across them later in the day, they were sitting still, totally engrossed in the games they were playing.
