Charles Schwab & Co. has become the first U.S. brokerage to provide Internet trading in a foreign language by introducing a Chinese-language site.

The site, at http://www.schwab.com/chinese, is Schwab's latest effort in a longtime strategy to build its Asian-American clientele by providing bilingual brokers, materials and telephone services.

The Chinese site also may lead to more multilingual Web sites, said Wallace Louie, Schwab's director of Asia Pacific Services.
