Land Rover's award-winning Freelander, which the company said would never be sold in the US, is to be launched in the world's biggest market for 4x4 vehicles after all. A special five-door KV6 version, with a 2.5-litre engine and automatic transmission, will be heading Stateside in the year 2000. The upmarket image Land Rover wishes to project will be emphasised by the Freelander's high specification.
