ALAN Johnston, the BBC journalist held hostage in the Gaza Strip wasreleased early this morning.
Johnston who has been in captivity since March was seen being handed over byhis Islamist captors to ruling Hamas officials early this morning.
'He is sitting with his colleagues from the BBC office in Gaza,' one witnesssaid. 'He is talking to them and he looks fine and well'.
The news of his release was announced by the Islamic militant group on TV andconfirmed in a text message from Hamas to the Associated Press news agency.
