FREEHOLD -- A spectacular four-horse accident marred the first race at Freehold Raceway Tuesday afternoon.
The opening race, a one-mile pace for maidens, started off normally, but as the field raced past the grandstand toward the half-mile pole, the accident occurred in the middle of the pack.
