One of the nicest ways to see a city or country is to be shown around by friends. Now, many of us can have friends in faraway places, thanks to the hospitality programs started by several destinations.
The free programs pair visitors with volunteers who, through get-togethers or tours, show guests an inside, personal view of their city. Some of the most interesting exchanges don't happen during a guided tour, but when visitors and volunteers simply get together and talk about thier lives and work.
