It may yet prove to be that EgyptAir pilot Gamil El Batouty took down Flight 990 in a wild suicide plunge into the sea off Nantucket, killing himself and everybody aboard. But we are uncomfortable with the suggestion that a mention of God indicates evil intent. It appears from the flight recorder that Batouty uttered the words "Tawakilt ala Allah," which, translated from the Arabic, means: "I put my trust in God."
