Venus is the brightest thing in the night sky.

It is easy to find Venus this month. An hour after sunset, look toward the west (where the Sun goes down). Partway up the sky, you will see what looks like the brightest star. This "star" is really a planet called Venus.

Stars stay in the same patterns, or constellations. But some lights in the sky move around from night to night. These objects are called planets, which means "wanderers." One bright and beautiful wanderer was named for Venus, a goddess of love and beauty in stories from long ago.
