SINCE the stock market turned last year, all eyes have been on the UK smaller company sector and performance has been pretty spectacular. As at 23 April, the FTSE Small Cap index was up some 47 per cent over one year, compared to rises of 17 per cent and 21 per cent in the FTSE100 and All Share indices respectively. However, even the Small Cap has to take second place to the Alternative Investment Market, which is up a colossal 61 per cent over the past 12 months.
