Elizabeth (Fritz) Thorndike, a trustee of the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine, and an energetic volunteer for social causes and emergencies, and so energetic a volunteer for social causes and emergencies that one physician said "she was the social service department," died last Thursday at her Bar Harbor home after years of declining health. She was 84. Mrs. Thorndike was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and came to the United States at age 3.
