When he phoned his doctors about his cancer treatment, he'd say that he was another doctor calling on business to get through quickly. And he'd give the fake name of "Dr. William Rubin," or "Billy Rubin." Ricks had liver and pancreatic cancer. Doctors test for the chemical bilirubin in blood to see if the liver is working properly. "Here's a liver and pancreatic patient and he's going to make a joke out of the fact," said Roger Hair, a close friend of Ricks. Ricks died Saturday at age 59 in Greens...
