There has been a significant change in the health insurance industry's adoption of e-business initiatives in the last year, according to a survey unveiled here at the annual meeting of the Health Insurance Association of America.

The survey of HIAA member companies, conducted by IBM, revealed that a major shift has occurred--with 62 percent of respondents now saying their companies' main focus on the Web is in external activities such as pilot programs that allow outside access to internal systems or that allow transactions on those systems.
