I TRIED MY DARNEDEST TO SHOP DIRECT THIS HOLIDAY SEASON.
But I kept hitting brick walls every which way I turned. First I went online and visited some of the well-known retail and catalog sites where I thought I could really clean up (i.e., get a bunch of gifts bought and out of the way). The problem was I literally got tangled in a web of poor site design, computer crashes and out-of-stock merchandise. I couldn't even find one wool v-neck sweater, size large and not in black or blue!
