The Mineralogical Record, November 1st, 1994

The Duke of Buckingham's collection of 12,000 mineral specimens was acquired from Rene Just Hauy's nephew upon the latter's death. This was subsequently auctioned by Christie's in 1824 upon his son's death to the Natural History Museum of Paris. Other minerals were bought by mineral dealer James Tennant who sold them to John Ruskin. As a consequence, other specimens are on display at the Ruskin Gallery in Sheffield, England.
