Dr. Hans Waine of South Hadley, a rheumatologist, died Dec. 5 at a rehabilitation center in Stamford, Conn. He was 92. Dr. Waine was a former resident of Beacon Hill, West Newton, and South Dartmouth. He was born in Hagen, Germany. He earned a doctorate in history at the University of Munster and was awarded an exchange fellowship at Columbia University School of Journalism. In 1933, Dr. Waine and his family came to the United States when Hitler abolished independent journalism. He decided to pursue a career in medicine.
