Atlanta -- It didn't make sense.
Lead poisoning victims usually are kids. But here were four grown men with lead levels so high that three were having seizures when they arrived at the emergency room.
Lauren Barnes was working for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, assigned to an anti-violence program, when the hospital called and asked CDC to investigate. The lead poisoning folks were busy, so she volunteered.
