The intentional burning of a barn that had deteriorated beyond repair is described. Three of the 3,000 slates on the roof had fallen off. The resulting hole led to the ruin of the barn.
I watched a hundred-year-old barn burn to the ground one day. As the crackling flames shot up in the air, rapidly engulfing the old building, a large raccoon suddenly appeared on the ridge of the roof.
