In addition to his great contributions to librarianship in Australia, Dietrich Borchardt's editorial work on AARL was one of his greatest achievements. The "New Sheet" created in 1960 for UCLS developed into a sophisticated journal and became known as AARL, an important part of the Australian academic library environment.
