Schools such as Campbell College, Portora Royal School and Coleraine Academical Institution accepted all the pupils who applied for a place in September 2006 and subsequently achieved a D grade in the 11-plus.

According to Department of Education figures for the academic year of 2006/07, admissions of pupils with a D grade were highest in non-denominational grammar schools in the Western Education and Library Board at 43%.
