It was one year into Mao Tse Tung's Cultural Revolution, all schools in China were closed and music of any kind forbidden. But Chen's father, Weixian, a college professor before the revolution, made a very brave decision: Life had to go on and his five children would learn to play music in secret to build up their character as well as learn a skill for life.
