The Maryland State Junior Girls Championship began as a stroke- play event, but Stephanie Connelly and Connie Isler quickly turned it into match play. The girls played in the same group and entered the back nine hovering around par before Connelly, 13, pulled away to win the title yesterday at the University of Maryland Golf Course in College Park. Isler led Connelly by a stroke heading into the final nine holes, but Connelly played solidly down the stretch while her playing partner struggled.
