Janice Galloway is no stranger to the world of classical music having recently collaborated with composer Sally Beamish in writing the libretto for the opera Monster based on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein which was premiered at the Theatre Royal, Glasgow in February 2002. In Clara she has surely got the makings of another fine opera? As a novel it is deliciously written in language that you can believe was used in the 1800's but made very accessible to those reading now.
