The first half of baritone Charles Williams's recital, Friday night in the Terrace Theater, gave little hint of what could be expected in the second half. Williams began the evening with traditional recital material-songs of Purcell, Handel, Tosti, Schumann, Brahms and Richard Strauss-good music performed, on the whole, capably and with crystal-clear diction if not always with great excitement.
