Site preparation began for a new flood control system
Anyone who's lived in the Twin Cities area for any length of time knows when the Mississippi River reaches flood stage, it's a safe bet the St. Paul Downtown Airport will be under water and closed. That's a major problem for a number of businesses, corporations and the Minnesota Air National Guard, which last year accounted for most of the 129,814 takeoffs and landings at the airport.
Better known as Holman Field, the airport has flooded three times in the last 13 years. But that's about to change with the cons...
