Olympic and world champion skater Brian Boitano not only is lending his name to promote the 2000 American Open, which is coming to the Fox Valley Ice Arena next weekend, he also is lacing up.
The famous skater won't compete in the event, but he will perform a special exhibition Oct. 7 during the event, which runs from Oct. 6 through 8 at the Geneva rink, 1996 S. Kirk Road.
For the first time in professional skating, the contest also will be broadcast on the Web at SkatingNetwork.com.
Organizer Scott Williams of Los Angeles-based Turtle Island Productions hopes the event can help talented ...
