Children smiled Monday as they rode in circles on a mechanical pony-cart ride at the Lancaster Catholic High School carnival. Twenty- five years ago, children also smiled as they rode ponies at the carnival. But back then, the ponies were real, and the carnival lacked much else in its inaugural year, apart from a fire engine and a hay wagon. The crowds rushing through the carnival gates Monday had much more from which to choose.
