Carl A. Troester, Jr. was an active leader in the field of physical education from 1948 until his retirement in 1974. Troester, who died on Dec. 27, 1994, was the Executive Secretary of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance for 24 years and the founder of the International Council for Health, Physical Education, and Recreation whose members come from 145 countries. Troester was also a sportsman, college teacher and coach.
