Following company command, an officer can expect to be assigned to a developmental position where there is an Army and engineer requirement for a branch-qualified captain. These positions range from an observer-controller or trainer at one of the combat training centers or in an AC/RC unit, to a company commander or operations officer in the U.S. Army Recruiting Command (USAREC).
