When the Red Sox traded Jose Canseco after the 1996 season, there wasn't much of an uproar in Boston.
Sure, most people thought the team could have gotten more in return than pitcher John Wasdin, now in Pawtucket, but the Canseco transaction to the Oakland Athletics was overshadowed by the loss of Roger Clemens and the firing of manager Kevin Kennedy.
