Deciding what to send out as a holiday gift to herald the coming of the new millennium wasn't difficult for EAI. The turn of the century seemed to cry out that it was an opportunity to create a calendar. But a calendar from a design firm had to be thought provoking in a way that transcended graphic design alone. So they turned to the principle they apply to their design work for clients: the idea that context alters meaning. "You have words and you have pictures," says designer Courtney Garvin. And when you combine the two, it creates this other meaning independent of the two components."
