C & C Technologies, an international survey company based in Lafayette, Louisiana, was selected to assist in the recovery of the Columbia space shuttle that exploded after re-entry on February 1, 2003. In association with Phoenix International (Landover, Maryland) and the U.S. Navy, this project incorporates three small research vessels with bowmounted side scan sonars and multibeam sonar systems to image the bottom of the Toledo Bend Reservoir in Texas.
