To truly appreciate the queer folk/pop trio Fruit, you have to accept the role that pop plays in the Aussie version of this genre. The type of spare production that accompanies homo folkie icons such as Ani DiFranco and Indigo Girls is practically unheard of down under. Instead, bands like Fruit and their contemporaries Bluehouse receive far more lush engineering. The result is a sound that has more in common with Everything But The Girl than Perron.
