Although Gillo Pontecorvo's Burn! (1969) shares many of the same elements as his landmark political film, The Battle of Algiers (1966)-the dramatization of an anticolonialist struggle in the Third World, a nonprofessional actor in one of the lead roles, a politically sophisticated screenplay by the late Franco Solinas, a memorable musical score by Ennio Morricone - it unfortunately doesn't come anywhere near duplicating the success of the earlier film.
